Because there's more to the job than the work itself

There's the projects you're involved in, the relationships you build between organisations and communities, and the opportunities you identify to make a positive contribution locally. The advice you give, the decisions you influence and the satisfaction of seeing your ideas put into action.

Then there's everything that happens behind the scenes.

Balancing different expectations, influencing colleagues and senior leaders, getting people on board with your recommendations and navigating internal politics. Sometimes you're dealing with difficult conversations or decisions that don't have a straightforward answer. Other times, you're working out how to turn a good idea into a proposition your organisation will actually support.

Then there's you.

The person behind the job, who wants to keep learning, build on your experience and become even better at what you do. To feel confident in your judgement, have more influence and be recognised for what you bring to your organisation. All while enjoying your career without letting its demands take over the rest of your life.

While you have colleagues, friends and family you can turn to, there's something different about spending time with people who understand your professional world because they're part of it too.

People who can introduce you to an approach you haven't considered, share an experience that makes you think differently, offer an opinion when you're weighing something up or appreciate why you're so pleased that a particular conversation went well.

That's the idea behind the Community Collective™

A community where you can develop professionally, invest in yourself and enjoy getting to know people who share your interests and experiences.

Support for your career and wellbeing

The Community Collective brings together specialist expertise, shared experience and opportunities to learn and develop across four areas.

01. Your Work

Whether you're planning community engagement activities, developing stakeholder relationships, delivering social value initiatives, managing community investment or advising colleagues on their approach, there's always something new to learn.

The Community Collective™ gives you opportunities to explore different approaches, strengthen your specialist knowledge, get feedback on your ideas and learn from other people's experiences.

02. Behind the Scenes

You’re managing competing priorities, dealing with internal politics, and trying to influence decision makers. Sometimes it all comes together, sometimes you’re left feeling deflated and frustrated.

The Community Collective™ gives you opportunities to develop your approach to these situations, explore different perspectives and learn how others have handled similar experiences.

03. Personal & Professional Development

You want to keep learning, build your confidence and become even better at what you do. Perhaps you're looking to strengthen your judgement, develop your leadership skills, progress in your career or become more confident putting your ideas and opinions forward.

The Community Collective™ brings together expert-led learning and the experiences of other members, giving you opportunities to develop new skills, explore different approaches and build on what you already know.

04. Wellbeing

You enjoy what you do, but sometimes you find it difficult to switch off. You're still going over that difficult conversation from earlier. Worrying about all the things you didn’t get done. Putting pressure on yourself to get everything right. Before you know it, the demands of your job are affecting more than just your to-do list.

Inside The Community Collective™, there's a focus on your wellbeing too. From expert guidance on managing stress and maintaining boundaries to activities such as breathwork and relaxation, it's about finding ways to look after yourself and make more time for the people and things you enjoy.

Here's what's waiting for you inside the Community Collective™

Your first six months: The Mastermind

When you join the Community Collective in November, you'll become part of a mastermind group that meets once a month for six months.

Each 60-minute session is an opportunity to explore real situations, exchange ideas, share experiences and benefit from different perspectives. Whether you're looking for advice, considering a new approach or simply interested in how other people handle things, there's something to gain from every conversation.

You'll meet with the same group throughout the six months, giving you time to get to know one another, follow how things develop and build relationships.

You'll also have a private mastermind space to continue conversations, share updates and ask questions between sessions.

Expert Sessions

Every quarter, we welcome an expert into The Community Collective to share their knowledge and experience.

From developing your professional skills and building confidence to navigating challenges within your organisation and looking after your wellbeing, our expert sessions cover subjects that matter to our members.

All sessions are recorded, so you can catch up if you can't attend live or revisit them whenever you like.

Collective Catch-Ups

Our monthly 30-minute catch-ups are a chance to grab a coffee, have a chat and get to know other members.

With no set agenda, they're relaxed, friendly sessions where you can share what's going on, put the world to rights and enjoy spending time with people who get it.

Private Online Community

A place to keep in touch with other members between sessions, ask questions, exchange ideas, share recommendations and celebrate good news.

The Vault

As a member, you'll have access to recordings of previous expert sessions, so you can explore subjects that interest you or catch up on sessions you've missed.

I'm Emma, founder of Nia Avanna.

I've spent more than a decade working in community engagement, communications and community relations across the public and private sectors. From supporting police teams to build trust with local communities to working in renewable energy and leading community engagement across a business with more than 400 sites.

I genuinely loved what I did. I enjoyed the variety, the people I met and the opportunities to make a positive difference. I was passionate about my job, proud of what I was achieving and always full of ideas about what we could do next.

But there were parts of the job I hadn't anticipated.

Although my role sat within the communications team, I worked across different areas of the business, each with their own priorities and expectations. A lot of my time was spent advising colleagues, influencing decisions and trying to get people on board with ideas when I didn't necessarily have the authority to make those decisions myself.

I had colleagues I could talk to, but there wasn't really anyone who understood the full extent of what my job involved. Someone I could compare notes with, sense-check my thinking or ask how they'd approach a situation.

I often found myself relying on my own judgement, learning as I went and trying to work out the best way forward.

Looking back, I would have loved to have had a community of people who understood my professional world but brought different experiences and perspectives to the conversation.

People I could learn from, share ideas with and turn to when I needed another opinion. Somewhere I could continue developing my skills, learn from experts and build relationships with people I genuinely enjoyed spending time with.

That's why I created The Community Collective™.

I'd love you to join us.
