THE MEMBERSHIP
Feel confident, connected and supported in your role.
If your role involves managing community relationships, navigating complex conversations and balancing competing expectations, you’ll already know how demanding that responsibility can be.
Having the right support around you can make a significant difference.
The Community Collective™ is a membership for professionals responsible for community engagement, social value, CSR and local communications.
Inside the Community Collective™, you have space to strengthen your skills, learn from others in similar roles and continue developing both professionally and personally, making it easier to navigate the pressures that come with the role while protecting your wellbeing.
From the outside, your role looks fulfilling and rewarding.
You’re the person representing your organisation, managing relationships and helping build positive connections in the communities where it operates.
But behind the scenes, the reality can be very different.
You know the value of what you do, yet you still find yourself explaining it again and again.
You’re expected to deliver on commitments, but you’re not always given the support needed to make it happen.
You’re invited into conversations about important decisions, but your ideas and input are sometimes overlooked or overruled.
You’re constantly balancing competing demands.
Supporting organisational plans.
Protecting your company’s reputation.
Trying to do what’s right for the local community.
You take that responsibility seriously.
You care deeply about doing the role well.
But holding all of this together can be exhausting.
If you’ve ever ended the day wishing you had someone to talk to who truly understands the realities of the role, you’re not alone.
People working in community engagement, social value, CSR and local communications often carry a wide range of responsibilities.
Your role may involve building relationships with communities, representing your organisation publicly, responding to concerns from residents or stakeholders and helping balance operational priorities with the expectations of local people.
Alongside this, many people spend a significant amount of time working internally to help colleagues understand the importance of community relationships and the commitments their organisation has made.
The level of responsibility involved is often significant, yet organisational support does not always reflect that reality.
You may be the only person in your organisation responsible for embedding community engagement or social value.
There may be few opportunities to talk through situations with people who understand the pressures involved or to learn from others facing similar challenges.
As a result, a great deal of responsibility can sit with one person, making the role far more demanding than it appears from the outside.
I know because I’ve been there

I had the passion, the ideas and the enthusiasm.
I assumed that because it was my responsibility to lead on community engagement, my input and judgement would be taken seriously.
But over time I found myself constantly pushing to ensure community engagement received the attention it deserved.
Although it was acknowledged that community engagement was important, I wasn’t always given the resources or support needed to do it well.
I was trying to hold everything together, manage expectations and deliver on commitments while carrying the responsibility largely on my own.
Over time, the pressure I was putting myself under began to catch up with me.
Eventually, I burnt out.
I was exhausted, disillusioned and I no longer recognised myself inside or outside of work.
Looking back, I realised how valuable it would have been to have somewhere to talk through challenges, learn from others in similar roles and develop the skills and confidence needed to handle the role with greater authority.
That’s why I created the Community Collective™.
Introducing
The Community Collective™
The Community Collective™ is a membership created to support people responsible for community engagement, social value, CSR and local communications.
It brings together people who care about their role and want a place where they can connect with others who genuinely understand the challenges that come with it.
Inside, conversations are open and honest. It’s a place where you can talk things through with others facing similar situations, hear different perspectives and strengthen the skills needed to handle the demands of the role with confidence.
It’s designed to provide the kind of support that is not always available within organisations.
Through a combination of expert-led sessions, member discussions, networking opportunities and a private online community, the Community Collective™ creates space for professional development and honest conversation about the challenges that come with managing relationships between organisations and the communities they operate in.
Does this sound familiar?
These are the kinds of challenges Community Collective™ members raise again and again when talking about the realities of working in community engagement and social value roles.
Having a space where you can talk openly about the challenges that come with community engagement and social value roles can make a real difference.
You can hear how others approach similar situations, learn from different perspectives and sense-check your thinking before making important decisions.
Instead of navigating the role alone, you're part of a network of people who understand the pressures that come with balancing community expectations, organisational priorities and professional judgement.
Over time, these conversations often turn into genuine friendships and trusted professional relationships.
You also have opportunities to strengthen your skills, whether that's gaining internal buy-in, managing difficult conversations, building long-term community relationships or communicating confidently with different stakeholders.
The Community Collective™ brings together professional development and shared experience, helping you grow in the role while protecting your wellbeing along the way.
1. Connect
Connect with others who understand the realities of the role. Share experiences, discuss challenges and hear how others approach similar situations in their organisations.
2. Learn
Take part in expert-led sessions and workshops designed to strengthen your skills and help you protect your wellbeing.
3. Grow
Develop your confidence and professional judgement, knowing you have people you can turn to when challenges arise.
People responsible for community engagement, social value, CSR and local communications often work in roles that sit slightly outside traditional organisational structures.
As a result, it can be difficult to find spaces where the realities of the role are properly understood.
Some professional networks focus primarily on:
• Measurement frameworks
• Reporting requirements
• Formal accreditation
• General leadership development or corporate training
While these can be valuable, they don’t always reflect the situations people regularly face when managing relationships between organisations and the communities they operate in.
The Community Collective™ was created to offer something different.
It brings together professionals who want to talk openly about the challenges they encounter, learn from others in similar roles and strengthen the skills that support them in the role.
Community Collective
When you join the Community Collective™, you have access to live networking sessions, expert-led workshops, member discussions and the private online community, all included in your membership.
Choose the option that works best for you.
Working in community engagement, social value and related roles can be deeply rewarding.
You have the opportunity to build relationships, support communities and help organisations operate responsibly.
But the role also comes with real challenges.
Many people find themselves navigating complex situations, balancing different expectations and carrying a great deal of responsibility, often as the only person in their organisation responsible for community engagement or social value.
The Community Collective™ was created to offer a different kind of space.
A place where you can connect with others who understand the realities of the role, strengthen your skills and continue developing in your career while protecting your wellbeing.
Somewhere you can talk things through, share wins, ask for advice and feel supported by people who genuinely understand what the role involves.
If the Community Collective™ feels like the right next step for you, we'd love for you to join us.
